Pupil Premium Strategy

Click the report above for the full strategy.

At Locking Stumps Primary School we have high aspirations and ambitions for all our children and we believe that no child should be left behind. We are determined that every child should be given the chance to realise their full potential, whatever their background. Pupil premium represents a significant proportion of our budget and this statement outlines how it is spent to maximum effect.

  • We seek to ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all of the pupils
  • All staff are involved in the analysis of data so that they are fully aware of strengths and weaknesses across the school
  • We use research (such as the Sutton Trust Toolkit) to support us in determining the strategies that will be most effective
  • All pupil premium children benefit from the funding, not just those who are underperforming

The Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) ‘Family of Schools’ Database compares Locking Stumps Primary School favourably when looking at similar schools with similar characteristics. Although the database was only updated in 2015, it highlights the positive contribution our school makes to ‘diminishing the difference’ between advantaged and disadvantaged pupils. More information can be found by following the link below; click the image.

What is Pupil Premium (Recovery Premium)?

Pupil premium (Recovery Premium) is additional funding, from the government, provided to schools for supporting pupils from low income families and from other categories. Research shows that pupils from deprived backgrounds underachieve compared to their non-deprived peers. The premium is provided to enable schools to ‘close the gap’ in attainment, particularly as a result of school closures linked to COVID-19.

Pupil Premium Categories and Principles

There are three categories of children that qualify for pupil premium:

  • Children who are eligible for free school meals (FSM)
  • Looked after children
  • Armed forces children

What can schools spend it on?

Schools have the freedom to spend the Premium, in a way they think will best support the raising of attainment for the most vulnerable pupils.

All our staff and governors are committed to meeting ALL our children’s pastoral, social and academic needs within a caring environment. The targeted and strategic use of pupil premium will support us in achieving our vision.

Reporting Pupil Premium (Recovery Premium) Spending and Impact

Reporting

Governors: It will be the responsibility of the Headteacher, or a delegated member of staff, to report at Governors Meetings

  • the progress made towards narrowing the gap, for socially disadvantaged pupils
  • an outline of the provision that was made since the last meeting
  • an evaluation of the cost effectiveness and impact of the provision in terms of the progress made by the pupils receiving a particular provision.

Parents:  will receive information as to the progress of pupils through personal information sent home and through reporting of assessment results at the end of each term of the academic year.

Published on our school website is the following:

(Please see the full report above)

  • our pupil premium allocation for the current academic year
