SATs - Statutory Assessment Tests
Statutory Assessments
Children in primary school are assessed at key points throughout their education. These assessments provide information for national comparisons and help schools evaluate performance, identify strengths and areas for development, and improve outcomes for pupils.
In addition to these statutory assessments, we regularly assess children's progress through our internal tracking systems. Only statutory assessment information is submitted to the Department for Education (DfE).

Locking Stumps Performance Against the National Tests
At Locking Stumps Primary School, our priority is to develop well-rounded children who have the very best start in life, both socially and academically. We are committed to ensuring that every child achieves their full potential and makes strong progress throughout their time with us.
While the outcomes of statutory assessments are important and provide one measure of pupils' achievement, they are only part of the wider picture. We are proud that, in most years, our results are in line with or above national averages. On occasions where outcomes have fallen below national figures, we have responded with careful evaluation and targeted improvement work to ensure that standards continue to rise.
However, our commitment to academic success is never at the expense of children's wider development or experiences. We provide a broad, balanced and vibrant curriculum that offers children a rich range of opportunities to learn, develop new interests and succeed in different ways. We do not narrow our curriculum simply to improve test results. Instead, we work hard to ensure that children receive a high-quality education that enables them to achieve strong outcomes while developing the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for the next stage of their education and beyond.
We believe that every child should have the opportunity to demonstrate their true potential, and we are proud of the nurturing, ambitious and inclusive environment that helps them to do so.
