Class 14 - Year 6- Mrs Ralph

The Learning Bubble

Each child has access to their own learning space and class community page along with a range of exciting learning resources. To access these resources as well as other useful things, children need to log into our 'Learning Bubble'. To do this they need to click the 'log in' button on the bottom right of this screen or click the image underneath where it says 'Log into our Learning Bubble. Every child has a username and password. This should be in their homework diary or reading record book. If your child can not find their log in details please speak to Mrs Ralph.

A bit about us

Welcome to Year 6

PE Kits

PE kits must be in school every day. This comprises of a white t-shirt, black shorts and pumps for indoor PE. For outdoor PE, children must have trainers, jogging bottoms and a jumper. These must be plain black, navy or grey.

Reading must be completed at least three times per week at home. Children are also encouraged to read their own books at home, as well as school books. Please make a note of all reading in your homework diaries.

Homework diaries will be checked frequently and signed on a Friday.

As part of our focus on quality reading and comprehension, the children will be expected to complete activities on ‘Reading Plus’ each week. https://login.readingplus.com/

They have been provided with individual log in details to use at home and in school. This will allow children to improve their reading speed, their vocabulary and their comprehension skills.

Spelling homework will be set each week. You will be given 5 spellings on a Monday morning. They will be stuck in your spelling book which you will then take home. At home you will need to find at least 10 more spellings which follow the rule set in school. You will then be tested the following Monday on the original 5 spellings and others from the list.

Maths homework will be set weekly. Sometimes you may get an extra piece of topic or literacy homework to support your learning in class.

Welcome to Class 14! I hope you are all ready for an exciting and challenging final year of Primary School! I am sure you have all had a wonderful summer holiday and are all well-rested!

If there are any parents or grandparents out there that can offer an hour or so a week to hear children read would be greatly appreciated. Please speak to me if interested.

We do enjoy a good debate in Year 6, and bearing that in mind I have included some ‘thunks’. Let me know what you thunk…

If I borrow a million pounds am I a millionaire? Which is more important being right or being nice?

Times tables

It is vital that all children in Year 6 are able to recall times tables up to 12 x 12.

To aid their learning the children have been given logins for Times Table Rockstars.

Again, all children have been provided with log-in details to use at home as well as within school. Knowing their times tables rapidly will support many areas within the Mathematics curriculum.
